Why is it so much easier to hate than to love?
Why is it so much easier to cut someone off unapologetically while driving, than to wait an extra 7 seconds and let someone in front of you?
Why is it so much easier to hold a grudge, than to forgive?
Why is it so much easier to let those angry, prideful words roll off your tongue without hesitation, than to set your pride aside, bite your tongue and say something healing rather than destructive?
Why is it so much easier to join in on the gossip, than to stand up for the person who isn't there to defend themselves?
Why is it so much easier to talk about the awful things happening in the world today, than to promote the good that is happening in the world?
(Because trust me, there is still good ALL around us. We just choose to focus on such things, which become our perception of reality.)
Why is it so much easier to play the silent game, than to communicate our feelings?
Why is it so much easier to be bitter than forgiving?
Why is it so much easier to complain than appreciate?
Why is it so much easier to believe in our fears than our dreams?
Why is it so much easier to focus on our insecurities, rather than our blessings?
Why is it so much easier to focus more on what we don't have, rather than what we do have?
Why is it so much easier to place blame, than to take accountability?
Why is it so much easier to quit, than to start?
Why?
Because easy is comfortable. Easy doesn't stretch our boundaries or limits. Easy doesn't require growth. Easy is, well.. easy! Hard is uncomfortable, unknown and sometimes unpleasant. Hard is unsure and not promised. But you know what- I've never met a strong person with an easy past. It seems like every valuable lesson or even unexpected blessing comes from a struggle we couldn't see our way out of at one point. How many relationships and friendships have we seen fall apart because someone would rather avoid conflict than face resolution? How many opportunities to bless someone in the simplest way have we let pass us by because we were too busy focusing on the demands of our own lives? Live a life motivated by love. It has nothing to do with how people respond to that love or if they accept that love; but everything to do with the only possible solution for the darkness that so heavily surrounds us today.
For whatever reason, we live in a world that despises restoration and revival. The world will only be changed by our example, not by our opinion. So don't be afraid to look foolish in the face of love. A grateful heart is a magnet for miracles.
Take a stand.
Be that light.
Make someone feel significant.
Be the face of hope.
Be the difference you wish you'd see in the world.
And help someone believe in miracles.
With love,
Darcie.
